Not your nan's lampshade... although this one did start in her sewing basket.

This glorious vintage fabric has been waiting for its second act for over fifty years. It originally belonged to my Nan and I can still remember it from when I was little. Some fabrics stay with you, and this is one of them. The screen-printed roses have incredible depth and texture, with a beautifully open weave that catches the light and makes the petals feel almost real.

Rather than hiding the back of the fabric, I've paired it with sumptuous berry red velvet, giving the shade a wonderfully rich glow when lit. Together they feel wonderfully theatrical, a little bit Miss Havisham meets Violet Crawley. Can you imagine how that convo goes???

This is a lampshade that wouldn't look out of place in a Victorian townhouse, a cosy cottage or a gloriously eclectic sitting room layered with books, antiques and things collected over time.

Like every Seriously Shady lampshade, it's handmade using carefully rescued and vintage fabrics, giving beautiful textiles another chance to shine instead of sitting forgotten in a cupboard.
