A hand-printed designer lampshade in 'Brisa' by Michael Szell for Christopher Farr Cloth a generous 40cm shade, double-sided for use as either a large table lamp or perfect ceiling pendant.

I stumbled across this fabric half-buried in an upholsterer's remnants bag, clearly destined for a life of being cut into cushion corners and forgotten which felt, frankly, like a waste of a Michael Szell original. Brisa is bold, botanical, almost architectural: dramatic green fern fronds fan out and meet in mirrored symmetry across an ivory ground, more statement wallpaper than fabric. It deserved a second act, not a supporting role.

So instead, it's become the whole show. Lit from within, that green-on-white pattern glows properly it's the kind of shade that changes a room's mood before anyone's worked out why.

Flip it (because you can, and you should), and the inside is a world away: a soft, pale sage-cream heavy cotton, quiet and considered, a deliberate contrast to the drama outside. Two fabrics, two moods, one shade.

This is a proper statement piece the kind of lamp that gets a "wait, where did you get that?" the first time someone sees it lit up.
